Ibrahim Zadran becomes the first Afghanistani batter to score a century in both the World Cup and the Champions Trophy. He smashed 177 runs in 144 balls against England in the ongoing Champions Trophy edition. Earlier he smashed his World Cup century against Australia in 2023. He also became the highest run scorer for his innings against England in the Champions Trophy history. For India, Sachin Tendulkar has achieved this feat for the first time.

Outshines Ben Duckett
Before Zadran, the record for the highest score by any individual in the Champions Trophy was with England’s Ben Duckett. He scored 165 runs against Australia in the ongoing Champions Trophy edition and led to the highest-ever total for any team in Champions Trophy history and made 351 runs. Australia’s Alex Carrey and Josh Inglis led the team to breach the total and made 356 runs. Inglis played an incredible innings of 120*.

Road to Semifinals
India and New Zealand have already qualified for the Semifinals from group A. Both the teams are scheduled to play their last match of group stage on 2 March. The Semifinals from Group B are yet to be decided, Afghanistan is currently playing against England and the winning team will move further in the tournament while the campaign for the losing side will today itself.
