‘I Would Have Stick To..’ Shoaib Akhtar’s Bold Prediction On Jasprit Bumrah Becoming A Reality!

Despite his good performance in Test cricket, Akhtar made a bizarre statement by claiming that Bumrah does not have the necessary pace to win further in this format.

Jasprit Bumrah: The former Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar who’s known for his bold words and good analysis, also predicted about India’s spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and his work load. Despite his good performance in Test cricket, Akhtar made a bizarre statement by claiming that Bumrah does not have the necessary pace to win further in this format.

According to him, even if Bumrah adds a bit more speed to his bowling, it is only going to increase the possibility of his injuring himself.

“You know, in Test cricket, you have to bowl longer spells. The batters don’t try to attack you, so length becomes irrelevant. You struggle if the ball doesn’t seam then. When you start struggling, the team will start questioning. I think he is a good enough fast bowler to take wickets in Test cricket,” Akhtar said on TNKS Podcast.

Akhtar also revealed that Bumrah’s action is bit unorthodox and he will sustain injuries in his career span.

Adding more to it, he said “Although he didn’t do much in the Test series against New Zealand, it happens. But if he wants to continue playing Test cricket, he has to increase pace. With the injection of increasing pace, he has a high risk of getting injured. If I was Jasprit Bumrah, I’d stick to shorter formats. It only depends on how I feel”.
