‘I Don’t Think So’ – Pat Cummins’ Honest Opinion About Australian Players Being Affected By IPL Auction

Australian captain Pat Cummins gave his views on the Australian team being affected by the Indian Premier League 2025 auction ahead of the IND vs AUS 1st Test.

Australia is all set to host Team India for the five-match Test series beginning from November 22 at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Australia will look forward to regain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after a long gap of 10 years at home time. The Aussies last won the BGT back in 2014-15 when they ended up winning the series by 2-0. However, the Indian team has been on top since the last four editions of the Border-Gavaskar and have won all of them. They will now look forward to repeat the same performance in the 2024-25 tour as well.

The Australian team will be led by Pat Cummins who has a pretty impressive record as the captain of the Australia. Cummins has been brilliant as a leader and has won the World Test Championship along the ODI World Cup as the captain of the side. Cummins will once again have the responsibility of leading the Australian team to another success against India. However, apart from the IND vs AUS 1st Test which is beginning from November 22, the cricket fans will be eyeing the Indian Premier League auction set to be held in Riyadh on November 24 and 25. A lot of Aussie players will also get sold in the mega auction, a question related to same was asked from Cummins in the pre match press conference ahead of the IND vs AUS 1st Test.

Pat Cummins was asked will the Australian players get affected ahead of the Indian Premier League to which the Aussie captain gave a smart answer. He said “Yeah, I think he is there in the auction. I don’t think so (it will be a distraction). Dan has flown over there, but he has been here for the whole prep. Done all the meetings, done all the chats, watching it. We came to know that anyway.”

“So, for the players, I don’t think so. Most of these guys have been there in the auctions before. They know they can’t really do anything. You are a sitting duck and seeing whether you get selected or not. It doesn’t… doesn’t make a difference to how we go about the first two days. It is not a distraction as far as I can see it”, Pat Cummins added.

Many records are expected to be broken in the upcoming Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction and many big names including Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer and others are expected to be sold for big prices in the auction this year.
