‘Human Life Must…’ Manoj Tiwari Blames Lack Of Proper Planning For Bengaluru Stampede

Manoj Tewari, a former Indian cricketer and legislator with TMC, said that the deaths outside Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium were avoidable if the planning had been better.

Manoj Tewari, a former Indian cricketer and legislator with TMC, said that the deaths outside Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium were avoidable if the planning had been better. The CEO’s statement was made after if was confirmed that 11 fans died and others were injured at the IPL trophy presentation for RCB. He condemned them for rushing to start the rally even without factoring in the chance of a huge crowd showing up.

Manoj Tewar’s Statement About The Stampede

“What happened yesterday was an extremely tragic incident. None of us could have imagined this. The fans who came to celebrate the victory would never have dreamt that they’d lose their lives. While celebrations were going on inside, people were dying outside. Someone must take responsibility,” Tiwari told IANS.

“Couldn’t the celebration have been held after a day or two? That would have given enough time to prepare properly. You have to anticipate the scale of emotion and the number of people who would come,” he said.

“Our Chief Minister back then, Manohar Rao, waited two days before hosting a celebration. That’s the kind of experienced leadership that prevents tragedies. I did not see such planning or foresight here.”

“Human life must always come before celebrations. This is not just a lapse; it is a failure of collective responsibility.”

Could This Be The Reason For Stampede

Many fans came to the game hoping for the same excitement as any other cricket match but did not know what to expect due to the uncertainty surrounding the event’s organisation. Conflicting announcements about Vidhana Soudha and the stadium made the crowds keep moving between the two places. A few police officers stationed near the stadium were said to not fully understand the event’s schedule. Even as a formal grand felicitation was happening at Vidhana Soudha, the atmosphere at Kanteerava Stadium remained messy. According to Deccan Herald, a lack of plans for communication made it tough for ground staff to guide the crowds.
