The Pakistan Cricket Board has agreed to the BCCI’s demand for a hybrid model and Indian team matches should be played on neutral ground. Although the PCB has been adamant since the beginning, PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi, told that they have agreed for the BCCI’s demand for neutral venue. But this has come at some demands by the PCB for compensation which also includes a share of ICC’s revenue which has raised many eyebrows by the cricket fans especially the Pakistan cricket fans.
Compensation Fee
A source also told The Times of India that PCB also demanded a larger share of the ICC revenue as compensation. They are currently getting six per cent less than BCCI’s share (38%), while the apex body has already offered a compensation value well above the hosting fees. Rashid Latif’s comment on increasing the ICC’s revenue for the PCB from six to fifteen percent added fuel in the flame.
“I don’t want to comment too much because that can ruin things. We have given our point of view (to the ICC), and the Indians have also given theirs. The effort is to ensure a win-win for all, Cricket should win, that’s most important but with respect for all. We are going to do what’s best for cricket. Whichever formula we go for, it would be on equal terms“, PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi, told in Dubai.

Pakistan Sold Out?
Analysts and commentators suspect ongoing backdoor negotiations between ICC and PCB, eventually leading to the Pakistani board agreeing to a hybrid model, indicating a U-turn after refusing to do so earlier. For Pakistanis, the situation feels like a betrayal. The hosting rights for the Champions Trophy was awarded to Pakistan in 2021. Many Pakistanis have taken to social media to express their frustration, with a growing sentiment that the PCB may be “sold out” in the negotiations.
