The Southwick and Shoreham Cricket Club in England has banned batsmen from hitting sixes following complaints from local residents and an increase in injuries among spectators. The field where the matches are played is surrounded by properties that were being damaged by sixes hit during games. Local residents had lodged complaints about this. Additionally, there was a rise in injury cases among spectators. In response to these issues, the Southwick and Shoreham Cricket Club created this new rule banning sixes from being hit.

Club Provides Information:

According to reports, the Southwick and Shoreham Cricket Club explained this rule by stating that ever since the advent of T20 cricket, players have become more aggressive. The stadium often isn’t big enough for their sixes, resulting in damage to nearby properties, such as broken car windows and house glass panes. To avoid insurance claims and legal actions, this rule has been implemented.

How Will This Rule Work?

During a match, if a batsman hits a six for the first time, the umpire will issue a warning to the batsman, and no runs will be awarded for that six. If the batsman hits another six, they will be declared out. However, this decision by the cricket club has caused considerable disappointment among the batsmen
