Spainโs captain, Marc Miralles, scored the opening goal, but Indian captain Harmanpreet Singh later netted two goals to secure Indiaโs Bronze medal. With this victory, Indiaโs medal count at the Paris Olympics rises to 4, all of which are Bronze medals.
Captain Harmanpreet Singh, with his two goals against Spain, finishes the tournament as Indiaโs top goal-scorer, totaling ten goals.
Earlier, India missed out on a spot in the final (gold medal match) following a 2-3 loss to World No. 2 Germany in the semifinal on Tuesday. Later today, the gold medal match for men’s hockey at the 2024 Paris Olympics will feature Germany and the Netherlands.
This marks the first time since 1972 that India has won back-to-back hockey medals at the Olympics, making it India’s 13th Olympic medal in hockeyโthe most by any nation.
