Earlier this year New Zealand whitewashed India at home and now the slipping away of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy has sparked concerns over the coaching sector of the team. According to reports by PTI, VVS Laxman was the first choice to succeed Rahul Dravid as the head coach for Indian national team and his credentials make him a compelling candidate for the role of India’s head coach given his extensive experience both as a player and in coaching capacities.

Where is Laxman Now?

Laxman was a member of the Indian team that was one of the joint-winners of the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy, which the title was also shared with Sri Lanka. VVS Laxman has stepped up as an interim head coach for the Indian cricket team in place of Gautam Gambhir for their short T20I tour to South Africa, according to reports. Laxman had earlier served as an interim coach for India on several occasions, filling up for then-head coach Rahul Dravid. It was under Laxman’s guidance that India won 4-1 against Zimbabwe in T20Is. Prior to that, Laxman also went to Ireland on couple of occasions as India head coach.
