A Sensational Debut
Jaiswal had recently made his debut in the international arena at home against the West Indies, hitting a very impressive score of 171 runs in his first innings. So far in the Test arena, he has scored a respectable 1,217 runs in just 11 games, including three centuries and seven fifties, with an average of 64.05. Interestingly enough, out of those three hundreds he has converted two into double hundreds, with the highest score being 214 not out.

Rohit’s View Of Jaiswal’s Potential
“The fellow has a right talent,” Rohit said. Rohit cited how in the three matches played, the lad was shown all forms of cricketing, that too while playing under new international pressure. The guy appeared as a normal player but Rohit believed it was due to Jaiswal’s ability to adapt himself to the playing conditions.
The lad, after all, was not known much for his performances in international cricket but has all the ingredients to succeed in the game. According to Rohit, Jaiswal’s experience in domestic and Under-19 cricket formed the root cause of his contemporary output.
Cracking Partnership On The Field
Rohit has seen Jaiswal grow as an opener himself. He had batted at the opening end with him in all 11 Tests together and the two have built a strong partnership. The runs of 1,082 add up in just 20 innings. Three successive Test series showed Jaiswal’s rise to be unmatched as his performances catapulted him to third in Test batting rankings, and he remains the second-highest run-scorer in this WTC cycle behind only Joe Root.
Consistency Across Formats
Jaiswal has been consistent in T20 internationals. He has a tally of 723 runs in 22 innings, with five fifties and a century. Yet he hasn’t played an ODI yet.
Mind Game Is The Key!
It was Rohit himself who praised the eagerness to learn and adapt from Jaiswal, as those are qualities that make him stand apart as a player. As Rohit said, “He always wants to improve and isn’t satisfied with what he has achieved.” A growth mindset in a young player is one reason why this attitude speaks so well for the future of Indian cricket along with Jaiswal’s aggressive batting style as a left-hander.
