Paine Confident Of Victory
Former Australian cricketer Tim Paine is confident that Australia will emerge victorious against India in the upcoming five-match Test series to be held in Australia. He believes that Cricket Australia’s decision to commence the series in Perth is strategic, as it will hinder India’s ability to acclimatize to the bouncy conditions in Australia.
“Pat Cummins have the players who can do the job for him against India. The first Test will be played in Perth, which is the right way to go ahead,” Paine said on ESPN Australia.
“Playing the first three games in Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane will suit Australia. However, India also have good fast bowlers. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj are good bowlers. Our batters will have their task cut out in front of the Indian bowlers. The difference between the past Indian teams and the ones who have toured Australia in the last few years is the quality in the pace bowling department” he added.
Paine On Rishabh Pant
Paine was questioned about the challenge of coping with the defeat of a Test series while serving as captain. He expressed that it’s difficult to come to terms with such losses, attributing some aspects of the series to bad luck.
“It is tough to digest. We were unlucky on some counts. The series also the rise of Rishabh Pant, who played Bazball even before Bazball existed. Nathan Lyon, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood were not used to that kind of attack from a batter. He was a key factor in Team India’s win. And as I said, their fast bowling stocks have gone up,” he concluded.
India will take on Australia in a 5-match Test series starting from 22nd November.
