‘He Is Just A…’ Dale Steyn Praises Rabada’s Ruthless Spell As SA Restrict AUS To 212 In Day 1 Of WTC Final

South African pace great Dale Steyn talked about the five wicket haul of Kagiso Rabada and stated that when he gets a chance, he always “goes for the kill” and added that his spell was “Exceptional”. The highlight moment of a low-scoring day one of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final between Australia and South Africa at Lord stadium was the five-wicket haul by Rabada. A five-wicket haul by Rabada made him pass Allan Donald to become the fourth-highest wicket-taker in Tests with 332 wickets.

Dale Steyn’s Statement About Kagiso Rabada

“He (Rabada) got the ball to swing well. It started with Alex Carey playing a poor first-ball shot to Keshav Maharaj–he did not need to play that. There was a sweeper out too. His dismissal opened up an end, and then Rabada came in and did what he does best–picked up wickets. Jansen also found swing and attacked the stumps, much like Australia did later. Australia actually took a leaf out of South Africa’s book. Rabada, once he senses an opportunity, goes for the kill. He is just a fantastic bowler. When he retires, we will truly be able to talk about his greatness, but on Day 1, he was outstanding,” Steyn, a JioStar expert, said.

What Happened On Day 1 Of The WTC Final

SA put Australia into bat first, they slipped to 67/4 throughout the first session. A 79-run partnership between Steve Smith (66 off 112 balls, 10 fours) and Beau Webster (72 off 92 balls, 11 fours) and a 46-run alliance between Webster and Alex Carey (23 off 31 balls, four boundaries) took Australia close to 200-run mark. However, Kagiso Rabada (5/51) and Marco Jansen (3/49) kept on building the pressure and the Aussies were brought down to 212. SA got even a nightmare start as they lost their four wickets by 43 runs at the end of the day, and none of their batters reached even the 20-run mark. Mitchell Starc took two wickets, whereas captain Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood took one wicket each. SA is behind by 169 runs.
