After a dominating performance by the Indians in Edgbaston during the second Test match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, bowling coach Morne Morkel applauds Mohammad Siraj, who managed to take India forward with his exceptional performances both in the first and second innings. In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, world number 1 in Tests and India’s ace bowler, the bowling arsenal seemed to lag even before the contest commenced. Mohammad Siraj and Akash Deep both bowled exceptionally, with the former claiming 6 wickets in the first innings and the latter claiming 4 wickets in the bag for himself.

“For me, Mohammed Siraj is a guy I have a lot of respect for. He wears his heart on his sleeve when he bowls. Sometimes he tries too hard, which can lead to inconsistency, but we don’t give him enough credit, he does the dirty work for the team,” coach Morne Morkel said.
“Very happy with the performance. Coming to Akash, he’s an attacking bowler who constantly asks questions around the stumps. It’s a good sign for us to see him charging in like that after returning from injury. Hopefully, he’ll replay that Joe Root dismissal on his phone tonight,” Morkel added.
Akash Deep And Siraj Shines In Both Innings
Siraj and Akash Deep not only put their foot forward with the ball in the first innings but after declaring the innings, Shubman Gill’s led bowlers departed the top 3 England batters back to the pavilion. While in the first innings both the bowlers claimed all 10 wickets, in the second innings, Siraj departed Zak Crawley for a duck while Akash Deep dismissed both Ben Duckett and Joe Root. India is now in a comfortable position with claiming 3 wickets for 72 runs, whereas England now has to chase 536 more runs to win the Edgbaston Test. Gill scored a marvelous 161 in the second innings.
