England batter Joe Root has turned out to be an exceptional batter in Test cricket in the year 2024. The latter has smashed six hundreds as of now. Root’s highest score has been 265 against Pakistan due to which he achieved the top spot in the ICC Men’s Test Batter’s Rankings. However, Root has been dethroned by his own countryman Harry Brook, who has become the new number one batter in Test rankings. In latest updated ICC rankings Brook overtook Root with ratings of 898 whereas the Yorkshire man is placed on the second spot with rating points of 897.

Apart from Joe Root, Harry Brook has been following his steps and has slammed five hundreds in the year 2024. Brook smashed a brilliant triple century against Pakistan and played a knock of 317 runs in Rawalpindi. Brook is known to play with an aggressive strike rate and take on the bowlers from the first ball. Both the batters put up a brilliant stand of 454 runs from 522 balls, and broke the backbone of the Pakistani bowling lineup.

Joe Root has also garnered headlines as he has become the prime candidate to overtake Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar in the list of highest Test run-scorers. Root has scored 12886 runs from 151 games with 36 hundreds and 64 half-centuries. Root needs close to 3000 more runs to overtake Tendulkar and become the leading run-scorer in Test cricket. England plays the most Test cricket in the world due to which, Joe Root will have the most opportunities to become the leading run-scorer in Tests.
