New Delhi: India women team captain Harmanpreet Kaur has become the Women Player of the Month for September. This came after the historic series win of India against England.

Harmanpreet Kaur not only shone as a batter but also a captain of the side. She led Women in Blue towards first ever series win against English women at their home.

When the India captain had got nominated for the position, Kaur had said that it is great to be in the list. Adding to it, she said that it will be amazing to win it.

“It was great to be nominated for the award, and to win it is an amazing feeling. To come out as winner when being nominated alongside Smriti and Nigar is very humbling,” she said.

“I have always taken immense pride in representing my country and achieving the historic ODI series win in England will remain a landmark moment for me in my career.

The game of cricket is blessed to have some of the finest athletes on the sporting circuit and to be chosen the ICC Women’s Player of the Month amongst them is a special recognition for me as an individual and the captain of the Indian cricket team,” she had said.

Harmanpreet Kaur in month of September

In first game of ODI series, Kaur had played at unbeaten 74 runs for team to get them first win. England had post 227 runs on board and India chased it in 44.2 overs.

The second game saw an even better version of the India captain when she played at unbeaten 143 runs to contribute in the 333 score. England was bowled at 245 runs.
