Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah sustained a back spasm injury during Day 2 of IND vs AUS 5th Test. Bumrah only bowled 10 overs and walked off the field after facing difficulty in the bowling. The pacer went for scans in the hospital straight away and didn’t come out to bowl during the second innings. This led to the six-wicket loss for the Indian team and they also lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by 3-1. Bumrah was awarded as the Player of the Series and picked up 32 wickets at an average of under 14. The latter troubled the Australian batters single-handedly and proved out to be a nightmare for them.
Harbhajan Singh Slams Team India Management
Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has slammed the Indian team management for mishandling Jasprit Bumrah and stated that he was squeezed as a sugarcane. He said on his YouTube channel, “He was used like you squeezed juice from sugarcane. It was like ‘Travis Head has come, give the ball to Bumrah, Marnus has come, give the ball to Bumrah, Steve Smith has come, give the ball to Bumrah’.”
Harbhajan Singh added by asking that how much overs did Jasprit Bumrah bowl and later he was pushed to such a situation that he wasn’t even available to play. He said, “How many overs will Bumrah bowl? He has been reduced to such a condition that he was not available at the end. If he was there, Australia may have won the fifth Test but they would have lost eight wickets, it would have been tough for them. You broke his back and the management should have decided on how many overs he should be given.”
Jasprit Bumrah achieved a lot of records throughout the series and became the fastest Indian pacer to pick 200 wickets in Test cricket. He also shattered former Indian bowler Bishan Singh Bedi’s record of picking up the most wickets in any away Test series.
