Gunther shares his perspective on facing Cena in his final match
Even though he was appointed the chosen one, it has been said that several top superstars in WWE are not excited about Gunther being The Champ’s last match. Gunther discloses the motive for John Cena’s duel. The Ring General had a conversation with ESPN where he was questioned whether the match was the passing of the torch. In response to this, he disclosed that although the last matches are a passing of the torch.
Gunther highlights WWE’s changing identity ahead of Cena match
While the change in roster does somewhat serve as a passing of the torch, this is an underestimation.
“Um, yeah, quite traditionally is always a passing of the torch when somebody really established retires and gets in a ring with somebody from a different generation. Um, definitely isn’t that case too. I think uh John Cena yeah represents a certain generation of WWE superstars and I represent the newer generation. I think a lot of lot has changed in WWE.
It’s a very international roster now. Very diverse and I think I represent that very well. So in that sense it definitely is a passing of the torch for the future.” Gunther said.
