The ICC and JioStar have officially moved in to clear the air after a wave of misleading media reports suggested uncertainty around their ongoing media rights partnership in India. In a joint statement, both organisations made it clear that the existing agreement is firmly in place and nowhere close to being withdrawn.
Clearing the air, JioStar has stated that it remains the ICC’s official media rights partner in India, and any claim hinting otherwise is simply incorrect. The statement also said that the broadcaster remains committed to fulfilling every contractual obligation “in letter and spirit.”
No impact on the fans or advertisers
That is indeed reassuring, considering major ICC events are coming up, most notably the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, one of cricket’s biggest global spectacles. Both ICC and JioStar confirmed that preparations for upcoming tournaments are running exactly to plan.
What does this mean for viewers? No disruption. No delays. No change in coverage. Audiences across India can continue to expect uninterrupted, high-quality broadcasts, and advertisers and industry partners can operate with complete confidence.
A Strong Ongoing Partnership
The ICC also underlined that the relationship with JioStar is a ‘long-term’ commercial partnership based on consistent communication at an operational, commercial, and strategic level. Both sides are aligned on the bigger picture: strengthening the sport’s reach and delivering an elevated viewing experience.
In other words, despite the rumors milling around, it is business as usual. The partnership between ICC and JioStar remains very much intact and is full steam ahead.
