The former Indian batter and the current Team India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir received a death threat via email which contained “I will kill you”. After receiving this threat, Gambhir lodged a complaint to get it investigated. The cyber cell is monitoring and looking for the origin of the mail and identity.
This isn’t the first time Gambhir has faced such threats; back in November 2021, during his tenure as a sitting Member of Parliament, he had also received a similar email.
Interestingly, this threat was receiving after two day of Pahalgam Terror Attack which took place on April 22, 2025. 28 people died in this inhumane terror attack. Gambhir has been open about removing terrorism in past as well and also tweeted regarding the incident yesterday on X-platform.
Gambhir said – “Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike,”.

Gambhir recently returned from a family holiday in France and has been back in the country since earlier this month. Under his coaching, Team India clinched the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in March. Gambhir, who took the reigns of Team India’s head coach role in July last year, succeeded World Cup-winning coach Rahul Dravid.
