Dewald Brevis who is popularly known as Baby AB, made headlines during IPL 2025 with his explosive debut for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The 22-year-old South African impressed fans and critics alike with his fearless batting style, reminiscent of AB de Villiers. Debut Mayhem: Baby AB Smashes 68 Off 32 Balls
In his very first match for Hampshire against Essex, Brevis lit up the ground by smashing a six off the first ball of the innings. He particularly targeted Paul Walter in the 12th over, hitting two sixes and three fours in a single over and completely derailing the bowler’s momentum.
Brevis reached his half-century in just 21 balls, drawing a standing ovation from the crowd. He finished his innings with 68 runs off 32 balls, including 4 fours and 6 sixes. Thanks to his blazing knock, Hampshire posted 230/7 in 20 overs, and later bowled out Essex for just 124, securing a dominant win.

IPL 2025 Recap: Brevis a Bright Spot for CSK
Brevis had already turned heads in IPL 2025, where he debuted mid-season for Chennai Super Kings. Despite CSK finishing last on the table, Brevis made a lasting impact. In just 6 innings, he scored 225 runs at an average of 37.50 and an incredible strike rate of 180. His campaign included two fifties, and his aggressive intent and flair were a silver lining for the struggling franchise.
