Cricketer Yusuf Pathan made his debut in 2007 when the Indian cricket team won the T20 World Cup. Seventeen years later, just days before the Indian team became champion for the second time, Senior Pathan debuted in politics. Trinamool Congress fielded him against Congress senior leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury from Berhampore Lok Sabha seat. Yusuf won and made his entry to the Parliament.

Even though he played 57 ODIs and 22 T20 games for India, Yusuf Pathan never represented the country after 2012. He finally hung up his boots in February 2021. The player is pretty involved in activities related to cricket, often playing in retired cricketers’ leagues. He was last featured in the World Legends Championship 2024, led by Yuvraj Singh, where India Champions emerged as champions.

Yusuf Pathan’s Business Ventures & Assets

According to the Declaration information available on Myneta, Yusuf Pathan has declared assets of over 45 crore rupees. His liabilities are over 11 crore rupees. Though studied only up to the 11th standard, Yusuf Pathan has been a director at two companies: Pathans Cricket Academy Private Limited and Patio Homes Private Limited. He is also a partner at Veris Associates. His wife Afreen Khan is a physiotherapist.

Although he has played lesser international numbers, Yusuf Pathan boasts a great record in the IPL. He has scored 3204 runs, averaging 29.13 in 174 matches, entirely at a strike rate of 142.97, with 13 half-centuries and one century. But that’s not all; he also picked up 42 wickets at an average of 33.69 and an economy rate of 7.40. He scored a century on 37 balls versus Mumbai Indians in 2010. He was part of the 2008 IPL-winning champion team Rajasthan Royal and later played a vital role in winning two more titles with his team Kolkata Knight Riders under captain Gautam Gambhir in 2012 and 2014.
