The star DC opener Jake Fraser-McGurk has expressed his eagerness to get back to his typical scoring habits that serve DC by adopting a more controlled batting style. Australian performer McGurk is working to regain his scoring rhythm for DC after their sluggish IPL start and is planning to abandon his previous aggressive batting technique where he attempted to hit every ball for a six. Prior to their match against RCN today Fraser-McGurk shared insights on his IPL performance in 2024 and compared it to the ongoing season as he planned his return to scoring for his team.
McGurk’s Views On His Batting Style
“I’d obviously love to have more runs next to my name. But that’s the way cricket is sometimes. You go through highs and lows. I think the IPL has shown both sides of that for me – last year and this year,” Fraser-McGurk said.
“The most important thing is staying level throughout – whether you’re going well or not. My role is to get the team off to a good start, but it doesn’t mean trying to hit every ball for six. I’m working really hard with myself and my coaches to get back to my best and contribute how I can,” he added.

Reason Why McGurk Wants To Change His Batting Approach
The IPL 2025 season’s performance of Jake Fraser-McGurk has showcased a dramatic decline from his last years IPL 2024 appearance. The Australian batsman delivered 330 runs during IPL 2024 while maintaining a strike rate of 234.04 which showcased his dominance. In this current season fans have seen him bat in just five matches with only 46 runs with the strike rate of 100 while facing two out during his innings. His peak run score during in this IPL season is amounted to 38 runs. The player aims to return to his batting style from past seasons to showcase his value to the team based on his expensive acquisition price and subsequently being removed from DC’s playing XI.
