Former Pakistan batter Mohammad Wasim has opened up about some of the issues he encountered during his tenure as chief selector and in dealing basically with ex-skipper Babar Azam.
Babar Azam Very ‘Stubborn’ To Deal With
Wasim, head coach of the Pakistan men’s cricket team from December 2020 to December 2022, highlighted that Babar was largely “very stubborn” and often revolted against the changes being made by the selection committee. He often had to intervene personally to make sure Babar accepted these modifications to the squad.
“It was a pain to make him accept changes. He was very stubborn and sometimes, I had to overstep my boundaries just to get him on board with certain decisions,” Wasim as quoted as saying by PakPassion.

A brilliant 138 by Litton Das gave Bangladesh a much-needed fillip on Day 3 of the second Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi on Sunday. Bangladesh were bowled out for 262 as Pakistan struck major blows. The hosts finished the day at 9/2. Abdullah Shafique and nightwatchman Khurram Shahzad made their way back to the pavilion after a testing period.
Earlier, Das stitched a vital 165-run partnership for the seventh wicket, along with an invaluable contribution of 78 by Mehidy Hasan Miraz, to bail Bangladesh out of a precarious 6/26. While Pakistan is leading currently by 21 runs, with still two full days of play left in the game, a result-oriented result is beginning to seem very likely.
