The last couple of months were full of ups and downs for the India national cricket team. The Indian team has has faced a couple of setbacks under head coach Gautam Gambhir’s tenure which includes the ODI series loss at the hands of Sri Lanka and Test series debacle against New Zealand respectively. The Rohit Sharma led side were in a comfortable place to easily qualify for the World Test Championship 2023-25 finals ahead of the three-match home Test series against the Kiwis. However, the Tom Latham and Co pulled of the most unexpected thing in the history of New Zealand cricket and became the first team to whitewash the Indian team in a three or more match Test series on Indian soil.
Harbhajan Singh Makes Big Statement Regarding Team India’s WTC Finals Qualification Chances
Team India is currently playing against Australia in the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy series and needs to win at least four matches to easily qualify for the World Test Championship 2023-25 final. The Indian team started off the series with a bang after a 295-run victory against the Aussies in Perth and have put the opposition under pressure. Though, the Aussies can never be underestimated in their home conditions and the visitors still have a very long way to go.
Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has made a big statement ahead of the IND vs AUS 2nd Test in Adelaide and stated that if Rohit Sharma led side is able to win the match, they will surely qualify for the WTC 2023-25 finals. Speaking to PTI, former Indian spinner said, “If they win another game, I think India will definitely go into the WTC (final) but it’s not important to reach there, it’s important to win we will reach there.”
The Australian team led by Pat Cummins has completely been put under the pump after the 295-run hammering given by the Indian team during the first Test in Perth. Australia were dented with the injury of Josh Hazlewood after which Scott Boland is pretty likely to take his place. On the other hand, there were some rumours of grouping in the team management between the players. However, the Aussies are known for comeback and will surely be very eager to defeat India.
