New Delhi: Former India’s captain and president of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Sourav Ganguly gave mouth shutting respond to Pakistan’s legendary pacer Shoaib Akhtar after he suggested that India’s star batter Virat Kohli, that he should retire from One Day International (ODI) after World Cup 2023.

Shoaib Akhtar suggestion for Virat Kohli

The 48-year-old pacer suggested Virat, that he should focus more on Test cricket then ODI and T20I, so that he can broke the record of Sachin Tendulkar’s 100 century.

Shoaib Akhtar had said in an interview about Virat Kohli that he does not think Kohli should play 50 over format after the World Cup.

“If you see him in T20 as well, he takes a lot out of him,” Akhtar said. Apart from this, Akhtar has expressed his desire to see King Kohli playing cricket for the next 6 years. He says that Virat should leave limited overs cricket and focus on Tests and break Sachin Tendulkar’s record by scoring centuries there. Virat currently has 76 centuries in international cricket.

Sourav Ganguly respond back

Now Sourav Ganguly’s reaction has come on this statement of Akhtar. When the former Indian captain was asked about this at an event, he said ‘Why? Virat Kohli should play the cricket he wants to play because he performs.

Ganguly on Tilak Varma

Apart from this, Ganguly also talked about the World Cup 2023. He said that if Shreyas Iyer is not available in the ICC World Cup 2023, then India should field left-handed batsman Tilak Verma at number four.

Ganguly said, ‘Who said that we do not have an option for number four. We have many batsmen who can play down the order. I think differently, I see differently. This is a great team. Tilak Verma is also an option as he is a left-handed batsman.

Verma made his T20 debut against the West Indies scoring 39 off 22 balls and scored 51 and 49 not out in the next two matches.

Ganguly said, ‘Tilak is an excellent young cricketer. He doesn’t have much experience but that doesn’t matter. I also want to see Yashasvi Jaiswal in the top order. He has immense talent and plays fearlessly. This is a great team.
