Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne is going through a rough patch in international cricket. The latter who was averaging more than 60 during the start of his career and hitting hundreds had almost become his habit, is now struggling to score runs in the red-ball format. The latter struggled for almost 20 balls to get off the mark against India in the first innings of the IND vs AUS 1st Test and later got out for just 2 runs after 52 balls. He wasn’t not able to perform well in the second innings as well and got out in single digits. Labuschagne must score some runs in the second Test match set to be played in Adelaide so that he maintains his place in the Australian team.

Former England skipper Michael Vaughan has a piece of advice for Marnus Labuschagne. Speaking to SEN sports, Vaughan stated that the Australian batter just needs to be more positive while batting. The former England captain said that he will once again pick Labuschagne in the playing XI unless he is injured. He said, “I’d go again (with Labuschagne). I’m a big believer that once you start a series with a team, unless there’s an injury or two and you have to change the formation, because of that, you made the call.”

“It’s not the Marnus of three or four years ago, so he’s got to find a method of looking to score and being a bit more positive, I think we’ll see that in Adelaide“, Michael Vaughan added.
Marnus Labuschagne has only scored 1048 runs from 19 Test matches since 2023 at a dismal average of 31.75. The right-handed Australian batter has only scored one hundred and seven half centuries from 2023. However, the latter is getting a lot of competition from other players in the team setup with Sam Konstas performing well during the pink ball practice match against India and hitting a century.
