Olga Carmona: Hero of Spain victory
Olga Carmona beat England goalkeeper Mary Arps in the first half. Left-back Carmona scored in two consecutive World Cup games for Spain. The Spanish national team scored 18 goals, the most in the World Cup this year.
Spain were given a penalty kick right after the start due to midfielder Keira Walsh’s handball. However, goaltender Mary Arps dove left to save Jennifer Hermoso’s penalty. England manager sarina wiegman made a number of changes, including signing striker Lauren James, but Spain were unable to equalize as they sought their first major title.

Carmona emotional words
“It was a really difficult game. We knew it was going to be difficult. England are a great team, but I think it was our game,” Carmona told Spanish state broadcaster La 1.
“We felt we were going to make it, but we can’t stop it. To tell the truth, I don’t know what to say.” Carmona celebrated the goal by publishing a message on his undershirt that read “Merki,” the 23-year-old said it was a tribute to his friend who lost his mother.
“I want to say that this win is for my best friend’s mother who passed away recently. I celebrated the goal with this jersey,” added Carmona.
