Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy garnered all the headlines in the IND vs AUS 4th Test due to his hundred in the first innings. Reddy ended up playing a knock of 114 runs from 189 balls which included 11 fours and one six. Reddy’s knock helped the Indian team showcase a strong response in reply to Australia’s mammoth first-innings score of 474 runs and ended up scoring 369 runs. Nitish’s ton was a heartfelt moment for his father and family who was present at the Melbourne Cricket Ground to witness the heroic moment. After the end of Day 3, Nitish’s father Mutyalu Reddy met his son and the video went viral by BCCI on social media.
On the other hand, Mutyalu Reddy had the chance to interact with legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar. Mutyalu touched the legs of Gavaskar and exchanged an emotional hug with him in the viral video. Speaking to The Indian Express, Reddy stated that he had seen a ‘god’ as he saw Gavaskar. He added that he knows from where he comes from and doesn’t know him. However, in the present time people are asking for selfies from him.
Mutyalu Reddy Opens Up About Meeting Sunil Gavaskar
He said, “We know who we are and where we come from. I come from a small town; no one knows my name if I leave my small region. But today, in Australia, people are asking for selfies. I cannot explain how happy and proud I am. And when I saw Sunil Gavaskar the day after my son hit that hundred, I just couldn’t control myself. I had to do proper namaskaram, touch his feet, and seek his blessings.”
“Gavaskar is like the god of cricket. Be it Sachin Tendulkar or Gavaskar or MSK Prasad or Rahul Dravid everyone sees them like god. The moment I saw him, it felt like I had seen god, so I asked for his blessings. I touched his feet and asked for the blessings; even if my son was here, I would have asked him to touch his feet. When he used to hit a boundary, I used to clap and now today talking about my son, he had tears in his eyes! I broke down”, he added.
