In a highly anticipated T20 World Cup match against Pakistan in New York on Sunday, the Indian cricket team experienced a dramatic collapse. Led by Rohit Sharma, India seemed poised for a strong total at 89/3 in 11.1 overs. However, from that point, the team fell apart spectacularly, ending their innings at 119 all out in 19 overs. In the span of just 30 runs, India lost seven wickets, a collapse that will be discussed for days to come. One of the disappointing performances in the chase was that of world cup debutant Shivam Dube who got out at just 3 runs.
None of the last seven Indian batters managed to reach double digits. Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah were dismissed for 0, while Shivam Dube scored only 3 runs. Dube faced significant backlash online, with fans questioning why he was chosen over Rinku Singh.

Pant, now batting at number three, managed a fortunate 42 off 31 balls, but the rest of India’s star-studded lineup struggled on the difficult surface. Pakistan bowled out India with an over to spare, thanks to a combined effort from their bowlers, with Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf each taking three wickets.
India, who were at 89 for 3 in the 12th over, lost seven wickets for just 30 runs. The match began 50 minutes late due to intermittent rain, and under overcast skies, Babar Azam decided to field first.
