The BCCI has received approximately 3,400 fraudulent applications for the head coach position, with some submissions humorously featuring the names of well-known figures such as Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and Shah Rukh Khan. The deadline for submitting applications was May 27, and now the BCCI faces the task of sorting through the applications to find the right candidate for the job.

During the scrutiny process, the BCCI discovered that they had received applications under the names of Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Virender Sehwag, Shah Rukh Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, among others, which were identified as fake.

The BCCI had opened applications for the head coach of the men’s team, and the search for the right candidate is still ongoing. Receiving fake applications is not new for the BCCI; during the previous hiring process, they also encountered numerous fraudulent submissions.

A BCCI source mentioned that the organization might choose a different method next time to reduce the hassle of sifting through fake applications.

A BCCI source explained that since the application process is publicly accessible on the BCCI website, fans and many others can easily submit forms. To address this issue, the BCCI is considering new methods for inviting applications in the future to eliminate fake submissions.

KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir is reported to be one of the favorites to become the head coach of the Indian team. Gambhir, who guided KKR in the Indian Premier League 2024, has been mentioned in Indian media reports as a top candidate. Previously, former Australian cricketers Justin Langer and Ricky Ponting stated they were not interested in the head coach position, citing the job’s demanding nature.
