EXCLUSIVE: The Ranji Trophy clash between Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh recently produced one of the most unbelievable moments in Indian domestic cricket. Meghalaya’s Akash Choudhary smashed eight consecutive sixes, including six in a single over creating history with the fastest fifty of the tournament. While Akash became an overnight sensation, the bowler at the receiving end, Limar Dabi, suddenly found himself in the harsh spotlight.
For any bowler, conceding six sixes in an over is a nightmare. It happened to Stuart Broad. It happened to Yash Dayal. And now it has happened to Limar Dabi. But like the ones before him, the young pacer is determined not to let this moment define his career.
In an exclusive conversation with News24, Limar Dabi spoke about resilience, pressure, and redemption.
“If the mind loses, it’s defeat. If the mind wins, it’s victory.”
Limar repeated this line during the interview, a reflection of his mindset. Despite the emotional toll of the moment, he has refused to let embarrassment or criticism break him.
“After that, I told myself one thing – I will fight back,” he said. “What happened is in the past. But I want to make a comeback that people will remember.”
Like Yash Dayal, who turned his career around after Rinku Singh’s five sixes, Limar is determined to write a similar redemption story.
“I want to take 10 wickets in a Ranji match.”
Limar’s goal is simple, yet incredibly bold. He wants to answer six sixes with a 10-wicket haul – something rare, special, and symbolic.
“That day took something away from me,” he admitted. “But I’ll get it back on the field. I want to take 10 wickets in a match and prove that one bad over doesn’t define a bowler.”
Learning from the legends
Limar mentioned Stuart Broad’s famous turnaround, the England pacer who was once smashed for six sixes by Yuvraj Singh but ended his career as one of the greatest Test bowlers.
“If Broad can come back stronger, why can’t I?” Limar said with a smile.
Focused and determined
Despite the chatter on social media and the initial shock, Limar has chosen the harder path to rise instead of hide. His confidence, maturity, and hunger to improve show the mindset of a player destined for growth.
“Cricket tests you in ways you don’t expect. But I’m not running away. I’ll return, and I’ll return better.”
Limar Dabi’s story is no longer about the six sixes he conceded. It’s about the fight he is ready to put up now and if he does go on to take those 10 wickets, Indian cricket will witness one of the greatest comeback arcs in domestic history.
