Ex-Arsenal player Billy Vigar passed away after suffering a brain injury during a game. The Chinchester City’s 21-year old Vigar went into coma after the incident in the game against Wingate and Finchley on Saturday.
The tragedy unfolded on September 20, 2025 during the Isthmian League Premier Division match between Chichester City and Wingate & Finchley. In the 13th minute of the game, Vigar attempted to keep the ball near the boundary but he collided with a concrete wall that was bordering the pitch. The medical teams immediately rushed to the ground and the match was abandoned.
Vigar was rushed to the hospital and the doctors conducted surgery in hopes for his recovery but despite all the efforts, Vigar succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, September 25.
The ex-Arsenal player began his career as he joined Arsenal’s academy in December 2017 at the age of 14. Even though he signed a contract but he could not make it to the senior team’s lineup. As the tragic news of his death came, Chichester City issued a statement announcing his untimely death and also requested privacy for the grieving family.
