As the summer transfer window heats up, some of Europe’s biggest clubs are making major moves that could reshape the upcoming season. From Real Madrid contemplating the future of Vinicius Junior, to Gianluigi Donnarumma potentially being shown the exit door at PSG, Monday’s transfer news has delivered plenty of intrigue.
Real Madrid Considering Shock Sale of Vinicius Junior
Real Madrid are reportedly open to selling Vinicius Junior amid stalled contract talks, according to Mundo Deportivo. The Brazilian forward, once hailed as the future of the club, could be on his way out just a year after finishing second in the 2023 Ballon d’Or and playing a key role in Real’s Champions League triumph.
However, his form dipped in the 2024/25 season, managing only 11 goals in La Liga, and tensions have reportedly risen due to his wage demands. Vinicius is currently earning €15 million net per year, but is seeking parity with new teammate Kylian Mbappé, who is on €23 million annually.
The 25-year-old, who has been at the Bernabéu since 2018 and boasts 106 goals in 322 appearances, still has two years left on his contract, with an eye-watering £1 billion release clause. But with negotiations stalling, Real Madrid may be ready to listen to offers especially from Saudi side Al Hilal, who have already expressed interest.
Donnarumma’s Future in Doubt as PSG Close In on Chevalier
Gianluigi Donnarumma could be heading for the exit at Paris Saint-Germain. According to FootMercato, the club is preparing to offload the Italian goalkeeper following ongoing disagreements over a contract extension.
With PSG now close to signing 23-year-old Lucas Chevalier from Lille, it appears Donnarumma’s time in Paris is nearing an end. The club is reportedly eager to avoid a repeat of the Kylian Mbappé saga where their star man left for Real Madrid on a free and want to cash in while they still can.
Donnarumma, 26, was instrumental in PSG’s treble-winning campaign but has attracted interest from several European clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester United, both of whom are exploring goalkeeper options. Turkish giants Galatasaray and clubs from Saudi Arabia are also monitoring the situation closely.
As one report put it: “PSG are determined not to experience another Mbappé scenario with Donnarumma. He should start packing his bags.”
Inter Step Up Pursuit of Ademola Lookman
Inter Milan are deep in negotiations with Atalanta over a deal for Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman, who has blossomed into one of Serie A’s most electrifying attackers.
Club president Giuseppe Marotta confirmed the talks, calling the upcoming days “crucial” in determining whether the deal will be completed. Lookman’s stock has soared after a sensational 2023/24 campaign that saw him bag a hat-trick in the UEFA Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen, helping Atalanta clinch the title.
Since joining from RB Leipzig in 2022, Lookman has contributed 52 goals and 25 assists in 118 appearances for Atalanta and was recently named African Footballer of the Year.
Marotta said: “We are in advanced talks. We want Lookman, but we also respect Atalanta. We’ll know within the next couple of days whether we can proceed.”
Skriniar to Fenerbahce Nearing Completion
Milan Skriniar looks set to make his loan move to Fenerbahce permanent, with negotiations between the Turkish side and Paris Saint-Germain reportedly in their final stages.
The Slovak defender spent the latter half of last season on loan in Istanbul and quickly earned the trust of new manager José Mourinho. According to Sky Germany, Skriniar has already agreed to personal terms on a long-term deal through 2029.
German sporting director Devin Ozek is currently in Paris finalizing the terms with PSG, and a transfer fee is expected to be agreed soon. Skriniar, who joined PSG from Inter in 2023, never quite settled in France but has rediscovered form in Turkey.
