Hi everyone. Just a note to say that the first Test of the summer at Lord’s will be my last Test,” Anderson said in a statement.

“It’s been an incredible 20 years representing my country, playing the game I’ve loved since I was a kid. I’m going to miss walking out for England so much. But I know the time is right to step aside and let others realize their dreams just like I got to because there is no greater feeling.”

“I couldn’t have done it without the love and support of Daniella, Lola, Ruby, and my parents. A huge thank you to them. Also, thank you to the players and coaches who have made this the best job in the world. I’m excited for the new challenges that lie ahead, as well as filling my days with even more golf. Thank you to everyone who has supported me over the years, it’s always meant a lot, even if my face often doesn’t show it. See you at the Test, Go well” He added.

James Anderson’s Illustrious Career

Currently occupying the third spot in the all-time leading wicket-takers list in Test cricket, Anderson trails only behind Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne. Having claimed 700 wickets in 187 Tests since his debut in 2003, he is just 9 wickets shy of surpassing Warne’s tally of 708 wickets.

The conclusion of Anderson’s illustrious career marks the end of an era in English fast bowling, with both him and Stuart Broad no longer part of the bowling lineup. Anderson expressed his desire to see young talent emerge and make an impact for England, prompting his decision to retire.

In addition to his accomplishments in Test cricket, Anderson enjoyed success in white-ball cricket for England, taking 269 wickets in 194 ODIs and 18 wickets in 19 T20Is. Although his limited-overs career waned after the 2015 World Cup, Anderson remained committed to excelling in Test cricket, demonstrating remarkable resilience and determination.
