Two-Decade-Old Record Broken
Duckett shattered a two-decade-old record. The former New Zealand opening batsman Astle achieved excellence in the 2004 Champions Trophy when he hit an unbeaten 145 runs while batting for 151 balls and dropping 12 fours and 6 sixes during the game against the USA. The Oval Stadium was the venue where Duckett delivered this inning against USA during their Champions Trophy match. Central to the Zimbabwean batting attack in 2002 Andy Flower batted for 164 balls while scoring 145 runs against India in Champions Trophy competition. He hit 13 boundaries. The third spot in this batting spectacle belongs to former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly with 141 runs (unbeaten) versus South Africa followed by legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar who scored 141 vs Australia and eventually former South African captain Graeme Smith with 141 against England.

Duckett’s Crucial Partnership
During the match England experienced a coin flip loss which led to their first batting assignment. The English batting performance began poorly from the start. Phil Salt (10) encountered his first dismissal after Ben Dwarshuis claimed him during the second over. During the match only 15 runs could be scored by wicket-keeper Jamie Smith. Shadab Khan adopted this challenging batting scenario together with Joe Root. These two players made 158 runs through their third wicket partnership. During his 78-ball innings Root achieved 68 runs by hitting four boundaries. The 31st over of the match brought Zampa’s delivery that bowled out Root. Harry Brook (3) departed cheaply.
