The Liverpool FC and its supporters came together to give an emotional tribute to Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva on Friday night during club’s match against Bournemouth in the English Premier League opener.
Ahead of the Premier League clash against Bournemouth which resulted in a 4-2 victory for the Reds, the Anfield honored the late Portuguese brothers as they died tragically in a car accident. The two stands held coordinated placards which spelled “DJ20″ and AS30” which is a reference of Jota and Silva’s jersey numbers. A moment of silence also unfolded as the Liverpool players stood in unity.

Both the teams were wearing black armbands to pay their respect to Jota and Silva. Before the match started, the crowd gave a beautiful tribute by singing “You will never walk alone”. Thousands waving scarves, banners and flags that were dedicated to Diogo Jota. A large image of Jota and his brother Silva also appeared on the big screen, leaving many in tears.
After scoring Liverpool’s final goal of the evening, Mohamed Salah stood in front of the Kop stand at full time and was extremely emotional. Tears streamed down his face as the fans sung Diogo’s tribute song.

Diogo Jota had spent five seasons with Liverpool and he played a key role in winning the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup. He left huge impact and was a masterclass game-changer for Liverpool. After his tragic death, Liverpool has now permanently retired the No.20 shirt and announced his plans to install a memorial sculpture at Anfield to honor his legacy.
