Former Sri Lanka cricketer Dulip Samaraweera has been suspended for 20 years from any role within Cricket Australia or any State or Territory Association, including W/BBL teams after a serious breach of the Code of Conduct, Cricket Australia said on Thursday.

Dulip Samaraweera Breached Cricket Australia’s Code Of Conduct

The Conduct Commission found that Samaraweera had acted in an inappropriate manner and breached section 2.23 of Cricket Australia’s Code of Conduct. The offences took place during the time he was serving as head coach at Cricket Victoria, to which he had resigned in May after just two weeks in the position.

“During the recruitment process Dulip had expressed a desire to make a specific coaching appointment in his support team. That appointment was unable to be facilitated due to internal policies we have in place. Following further conversations, Dulip decided he would prefer not to remain in the role.” The CEO Cricket Victoria, Nick Cummins said at the time of Samaraweera’s resignation

“The CA Integrity Department investigates complaints brought to it under Integrity Codes and Policies which also apply to State & Territory Associations. The Conduct Commission hears matters referred to it by CA Integrity. CA and CV are committed to providing a safe environment for all players and employees and the welfare of those subjected to mistreatment is paramount.” as stated by Cricket Australia

Dulip Samaraweera has played 7 Tests and 5 T20Is in his international career 1993 to 1995.
