Did Indian Boxer Nishant Dev Get Cheated At The Paris Olympics 2024? Fans Outraged Online

Paris Olympics 2024: Indian boxer Nishant Dev missed making history at the Paris Olympics after losing to Marco Verde of Mexico in the men’s 71 kg quarter-final. Nishant Dev won the first round with an impressive performance and continued to attack strongly in the second round. Despite his efforts, Verde won the second round with a 3-2 decision.

In the third round, Nishant Dev was disappointed when the referee declared Marco Verde the winner. Nishant appeared surprised, as he likely did not expect this outcome. The judges decided that Verde won the last two rounds, giving him a 4-1 victory in the quarter-finals. With this win, Verde has advanced to the semi-finals and secured a medal.

Fans Angry With What Happened To Dev

Following Nishant Dev’s surprising defeat, fans are enraged on social media. The terms ‘cheating’ and ‘robbed’ are trending, with fans accusing that Nishant Dev was intentionally defeated.

One fan commented, “This is robbery! Nishant Dev was clearly the winner. Boxing is so rigged that nobody understands how the judges score the matches. There’s no transparency in the sport. WWE matches are more reliable.” Another fan wrote, “How can you ignore Nishant Dev’s dominant performance in the first two rounds? He completely outplayed his opponent.”

Nishant Dev missed a chance to make history. If he had won, he would have reached the semi-finals and secured another medal for India. He would have been the fourth Indian boxer to achieve this, joining Vijender Singh, Mary Kom, and Lovlina Borgohain, who are the only ones to have won boxing medals for India so far.

Nishant Dev was born in Karnal, Haryana, on December 23, 2000. The Indian boxer won a bronze medal in the 71 kg category at the IBA Men’s World Boxing Championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Although his career was nearly ended by an injury, he recovered and made it to the Paris Olympics.
