India and Australia are all set to take on each other in the first Test of the five-match Test series at the Optus Stadium in Perth from November 22. However, apart from the series, what is a major event which is clashing with the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 is the Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction. The cash-rich league mega auction is set to take place in Jeddah on November 24 and 25. This has caused problems for three former players who will be involved in the BGT. This includes, Daniel Vettori, assistant coach of the Australian team whereas Ricky Ponting and Justin Langer are part of the commentary panel. All these players are coaches of various IPL teams.

As per a report by ESPNcricinfo, Daniel Vettori is expected to miss the IND vs AUS 1st Test in Perth due to his commitments with the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Vettori is the head coach of the Sunrisers Hyderabad and will be participating in the IPL 2025 mega auction. The former Kiwi skipper has been one of the most trustful assets for the Andre McDonald led Australian team coaching panel, however, he has been the coach of T20 teams such as Sunrisers Hyderabad and ‘The Hundred’ franchise Birmingham Phoenix.
As quoted by ESPNcricinfo, an Australian team source said, “We are very supportive of Dan’s role as Head Coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad. Dan will complete final preparation for the first Test before attending the IPL auction. He will then be with team for the remainder of the Border Gavaskar Trophy.” Many records are expected to galore during the Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction. Vettori helped SRH qualify for the finals in IPL 2024 and he will once again look to repeat the same performance.
