CWG 2022 Wrestling: India wrestler Deepak Punia thrashed Pakistan player Muhammad Inam to bag GOLD medal for himself in the Freestyle 86 kg category.
With Deepak’s medal, India registers its 4th medal in wrestling this evening itself. This is Deepak’s first medal in Commonwealth Games.

Punia won a bronze medal in the Asian Championship in 2019 and 2020. Along with that, Deepak has secured a silver at Wrestling Championship in 2019.
Punia secured his Olympics berth at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics after entering the semi-finals of the 2019 World Wrestling Championship. Considering his early success on an international stage, Deepak is seen as one of the strong medal prospects in wrestling.
Earlier, India wrestler Bajrang Punia won the gold medal in the men’s freestyle 65kg category.
Another India women wrestler, Anshu Malik won the silver medal but couldn’t control her tears from flowing down her cheeks after losing the game.
