Birmingham: 4 Indian women have created history in Birmingham by winning the first ever medal of the country in Lawn Bowls. The women’s four defeated South Africa in the finals by fighting a bottleneck competition.
The group of 4 qualified for the finals on Sunday after New Zealand. The women have put forth an inspiring story by clinching the medal in Birmingham.

Pinki, Lovely, Rupa and Nayanmoni has finally got to tell their story of struggle on international platform where the world is in front of them with all ears.
In the interview after qualifying for the finals, Lovely, a former 100m sprinter, said in media that she had to change her sport after suffering injuries.

Struggles of Indian Lawn Bowls champions
The Indian women have won the medal and have brought the attention on themselves and as well as the game. The ‘leader’ of the pack Lovely Choubey “hopes” that they will get better facilities after their achievement.
In a interview, she had said, The balls are not made in India, they have to be imported from Australia and England. The facilities are effectively non-existent. Hopefully that will change after this.”
