Birmingham: India ace wrestler Deepak Punia has made his way into the quarter-finals of the Freestyle 86kg category of CWG2022.
Punia defeated Matthew Oxenham by 10-0 from New Zealand to reach the quarter-finals of the tournament.

Deepak Punia looks promising and has the mettle to clinch first prize in his category. Punia won a bronze medal in the Asian Championship in 2019 and 2020. Along with that, Deepak has secured a silver at Wrestling Championship in 2019.
Punia secured his Olympics berth at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics after entering the semi-finals of the 2019 World Wrestling Championship. Considering his early success on an international stage, Deepak is seen as one of the strong medal prospects in wrestling.
