Birmingham: Indian star wrestler Bajrang Punia has marked thumping win in the quarter-finals of the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022.
The Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist defeated Lowe Bingham to make his way smoothly in the semis. India star is huge hope for a gold medal just like Gold Coast in Australia.

Indian wrestler Punia won gold in the last edition in Australia. Fighting in 65 kg Freestyle category, the wrestler proved his dominance as he contributed with a blistering gold in the tally of 12 medals in wrestling.’

Punia won a bronze medal last year in the Tokyo Olympics after defeating Daulet Niyazbekov by a margin of 8-0 and will be strong contender of the medal at CWG2022. He received the Arjuna Award in 2015 and after that, he also received Padma Shri (2019), Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award (2019) and FICCI India Sports Award (2020). He also works in the Indian Railways in the post of Gazetted officer OSD Sports.
