In the hard fought game, both teams remain head-to-head and first quarter passed goalless. India took the lead by one goal in the second quarter and the third quarter once again went without any goal.

Just when India saw that their journey at CWG 2022 will end with a medal, New Zealand women netted a goal and ended the game the in 1-1 draw.

The game went in the shoot-out competition and India goalkeeper shone like a star in Birmingham to get her side a shining medal.

Savita saved four goals in the shoot-out and New Zealand could only score 1 and India women got 2 goals to win the historic bronze medal game.

In the Tokyo Olympics 2020, India women had finished fourth in the tournament after losing the bronze medal match and this medal will change the game for upcoming generations.
