Birmingham: India player Vikas Thakur wins silver in weightlifting, continuing the dominance at the Commonwealth Games 2022. Vikas Thakur has added to India’s tally by winning the silver medal in the men’s 96kg category.

Vikas Thakur wins silver in weightlifting

He lifted a total of 346 kg. This is the 12th medal for India at the Commonwealth Games 2022. The Indian lifter had a bit of luck in his hands as Antonis Martasidis failed to register an attempt at the clean and jerk event.

Vikas is a 7 times national champion 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 ,2018, 2019 ,2020 India record holder. He won silver in the men’s 85 kg weight class at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

Don Opeloge won the gold medal with an incredible total of 381KG.
