Birminghan: India has marked a fabulous start to their Commonwealth Games 2022 campaign as boxer Shiva Thapa defeats Pakistan Suleman Baloch in round of 32 in Birmingham.

In the 63kg category, Asian Championship Gold medalist Thapa went past Pakistan player Baloch by 5-0 to sail into round of 16 in unanimous results by judge. The scoreline read 30-26, 30-25, 30-26, 30-26, 30-23, in favour of the Indian by five judges.

Shiva Thapa defeats Pakistan Suleman Baloch, enters pre-quarter finals


Indian boxer has sailed into the round of 32 after defeating the Pakistan player Suleman and will now face Reese Lynch of Scotland. The next round will be played on July 31. The first match of the India was a treat to the eyes as it ended by ‘referee stops contest’ verdict.
