CWG 2022: Athletes from India are dominating the Commonwealth Games being played in Birmingham. Every day a new record is being made. India’s Murli Sreeshankar has created history in the long jump. Murali Sreeshankar won a silver medal in long jump. He jumped 8.08 meters in the final. This was his best jump.
Second Medal in Track and Field
India’s long jumper Murali Sreeshankar has won India’s second medal in track and field. Earlier Tejaswin Shankar won the bronze medal in the high jump. Sreeshankar has become the first Indian male player to win a silver in this event. Before him, Suresh Babu won the bronze medal in the long jump in the 1978 Commonwealth Games. Among women, former athletes Anju Bobby George and Prajusha Malaikhal have won medals. Anju Bobby won bronze in long jump in 2002 Commonwealth Games and Prajusha won silver in 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Jumped equal to the player who won the gold
Narin Lakuan and Sreeshankar of the Bahamas, who won gold in the final, jumped the same distance. Both jumped 8.08m, but they were awarded the gold medal. This happened because Lakuan’s second best jump was better than Sreeshankar’s second best jump. Lakuan’s second best jump was 7.98 metres, while Sreeshankar’s second best jump was 7.84 metres.
Each player gets 6 attacks. Sreeshankar jumped 8.08m in his fifth attempt. At the same time, the Bahamas athlete jumped 8.08 meters in his second attempt. Sreeshankar’s personal best is 8.36 metres.

India has so far won six gold medals in the Commonwealth Games. Mirabai Chanu, Jeremy Lalnirunga and Achinta Sheuly have won gold in weightlifting. At the same time, the women’s lawn ball team and men’s table tennis team also won gold medals. Talking about the total medals, India has 20 medals.
