CWG 2022: India lost to formidable Malaysia in the final of the mixed team event in the badminton competition at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham.
In the final, India lost 1-3 to Malaysia. This is India’s 13th medal in this edition of the Commonwealth Games. Earlier on Tuesday, the lawn balls women’s team and the table tennis team won gold medals. India remains at number six in the medal table.
India did not start well in the gold medal match. In the men’s doubles match, Satwik Sairaj Ranki Reddy and Chirag Shetty lost in straight games. Malaysia’s Teng Chia and Woi Soh won the match 21-18, 21-15. Thus, Malaysia took a 1-0 lead.

But PV Sindhu then won the women’s singles match to level the match at 1-1. She defeated Jin Goh 22-20, 21-17.
Srikanth defeated
Kidambi Srikanth could not get off to a good start in the men’s singles match. He lost the first game against Tae Young 19-21. However, in the second game, he staged a comeback and recorded an easy victory at 21-6.
The third game saw a good fight. At one stage the score was tied at 5-5. Then it was 7-7, 8-8, 9-9. After this, the Malaysian player took an 11-9 lead. After this, the score was tied at 11-11.

After this, the Malaysian player took a 19-16 lead. In the end, he won the game 21-16 to give Malaysia a crucial 2-1 lead. After this, the pair of Trija Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand lost 0-2 in the women’s doubles match and Malaysia captured the gold medal.
