CSK Call Up 17-Year-Old Mumbai Batter Akash Mhatre For Trials Ahead Of IPL 2025 Mega Auction: Reports

As per a report, the Chennai Super Kings are expected to rope in a 17-year-old Mumbai batter Akash Mhatre and have asked him to attend the CSK trials ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction.

As the Indian Premier League 2025 auction is all set to take place in Riyadh on November 24 and 25, as per reports, a 17-year-old Mumbai batter Ayush Mhatre has been called by the CSK management for trials ahead of the mega auction of the cash-rich league. The reports further added that the young talent impressed MS Dhoni which later resulted in his call-up for the trials. If he gets selected, the franchise is expected to add him to the team’s squad and the latter can also open along with Ruturaj Gaikwad. Opening was a major concern for CSK in the previous edition of the tournament as Devon Conway was ruled out due to injury.

Ayush Mhatre made his first-class debut for Mumbai during the Irani Cup 2024 match against Rest India. The latter scored 19 and 14 runs in both the innings and later went on to slam a brilliant century against Maharashtra. Mhatre so far has scored 321 runs from five matches at an average of 35.66. The reports add that the Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan has requested the Mumbai Cricket Association to allow Mhatre attend the CSK trials at the CSKHPC Navalur grounds.
