Cristiano Ronaldo once again showed exceptional performance as Al Nassr romped to a convincing 5-1 victory over Al Fateh in Al-Awwal Park on Saturday night. Ronaldo scored a stunning goal to his torrid streak of form, as his side continued their season’s flawless start in the Saudi Pro League with five wins on the trot.
Ronaldo’s wonder goal was scored in the 60th minute after unleashing a fierce reaction shot from the outside of the box on the left wing which blasted into the top corner, leaving the crowd aghast and stealing the spotlight from team-mate Joao Felix, who had already netted a hat-trick.
A minute before, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner had missed a penalty to the utter surprise of the home fans, including YouTube sensation IShowSpeed, who was in attendance. But typical Ronaldo, he redeemed that within next-to-no time. After receiving a pass from Sadio Mané, he beat one defender with signature stepovers before unleashing an incredible finish high into the top-right corner.
Ronaldo scored his 949th career goal and this was also his 800th in club football – two phenomenal milestones which take him one step nearer to achieving his dream of achieving 1,000 career goals.
With this smashing win, Al Nassr have solidified their unbeaten run and clinched their grip at the summit of the Saudi Pro League table with 15 points from five matches. For Al Fateh, though, their troubles continued as they remain placed at the bottom rung of the table with just one point.
Elsewhere, Al Hilal continued their dominant streak with a 5-0 trouncing of Al Ettifaq, and Al Hazm defeated Al Okhdood 2-1 in another intensely contested game.
