All started in IPL

The story started with a bidding war during the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, where the inaugural champion Rajasthan Royals acquired Suryavanshi for Rs 1.1 Crore. On April 19, he became the youngest player in IPL history (14 years, 23 days) when he debuted against LSG at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. He lived up to the hype instantly, smashing a six off his very first ball.

Just 9 days later, he slammed a 35-ball 101 against Gujarat Titans. This made him the youngest centurion in Men’s T20 history, only behind Chris Gayle’s all-time record.

Exploits in India U-19

After his IPL exploits, he continued his rich reign of form in India under-19 too. On July 5, 2025, he became the youngest centurion in Youth ODI history, scoring 143 against England U-19 at Worcester.

In Rising Stars Asia Cup, Suryavanshi showed his brilliance yet again and smashed 144 runs off just 42 balls against the UAE, where he reached his century in 32 balls, which made him the first player to record two-consecutive T20 centuries in 35 balls or less in history.

Apart from this, during the U-19 tour of Australia in September, he set a new record for the most career sixes in Youth ODIs, surpassing Unmukt Chand’s tally in just 10 innings.

Brilliance in SMAT

In December 2025, playing for Bihar in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he became the youngest centurion in tournament’s history with an unbeaten 108 (61 balls) against Maharashtra. Also, He became the first player in the world to score three T20 centuries as a teenager, achieving this feat at just 14 years and 250 days old.

More miles to go

While critics and legends like Sachin Tendulkar have praised his ‘fearless’ approach, the end of 2025 sees Suryavanshi at a crossroads. Despite his explosive power, his recent struggle in the U-19 Asia Cup final against Pakistan has highlighted a need for tactical flexibility. However, with 688 runs and 60 sixes in T20s this year, there is no doubt that Vaibhav Suryavanshi is the most exciting talent to emerge in a generation.
